Go Local
24th March to 16th June 2012Go Local is an exhibition showcasing the diversity and high standard of work being produced by the art and design students at Kendal College. Students have responded to the Go Local theme through a variety of different disciplines and approaches, ranging from contemporary fine art to graphic design. The exhibition includes Foundation Studies in Art and Design and Foundation Degree in Drawing students.
Lecturer Sorrel Stratford explained "yet again it is another successful year for the art students at the college; and it is exciting to see lots of new dynamic creative's coming from the local area"
An added appeal of the exhibition is the broad range of subject specialisms and the thought provoking themes. There is a textile designer creating miniatures that are inspired by the Croppers family, a set designer re-creating Victorian England and a photographer promoting vintage fashion.
It is the eighth year that the college has worked with the Museum, which has huge benefits for the students having a professional gallery space on their doorstep.
Sorrel adds "having an extra exhibition at this stage in the course is a real benefit for the students and is helping them secure their first choice university places as well as developing their profile locally to secure future local jobs."
Come along and be inspired by the next generation of art and designers. The exhibition runs from the 11th of February until the 10th of March 2012.
